Everyone was talking about it. Even President Obama had an opinion on Kanye West’s unseemly interruption as singer Taylor Swift picked up an award at the Video Music Awards.

Unfortunately Obama’s off the cuff comments were made as the microphone was on.

Obama said off the record before a press conference was due to begin “the young lady seems like a perfectly nice person, she’s getting her award, what’s he doing up there? He’s a jackass.”

The comment was not meant for public consumption of course. He was preparing for an interview and was simply asked his opinion of the event.

Off the record maybe but on the internet shortly afterwards. The jackass comment made it on to twitter, the staff at ABC news apologised to the Whitehouse after it was revealed one of their anchors tweeted the comment.

i dont think obama was out of line if he was asked his opinion then he should be able to say what he thinks. he didnt mean for his comment to be public. now if he would have gone on national tv and spoke his mind like kanye did then it would have been out of line. i do think kanye is a jackass for doing that but obviously he just wanted the attention.
