Bargain hunters have flooded Christchurch's Smiths City store this morning when it opened its doors for the first time since February's quake.

Hundreds of people waited in line from 4 o'clock, hoping to get their hands on the in-store discounts first.

Since the quake, part of the building's been demolished and nearly $3m has been spent getting the store safe and ready to open.
