The head of children's charity Barnardos is one of three ambassadors named by the Government as it prepares to release a strategy tackling child abuse.

Social Development Minister Paula Bennett will release a green paper on Vulnerable Children on Wednesday.

Ms Bennett is seeking the public's feedback on policy options like mandatory reporting by witnesses of child abuse.

Barnardos head Murray Edridge is helping raise public awareness, while former All Black Norm Hewitt is also an ambassador.
