If you're one of the thousands of New Zealanders who suffer from abdominal pain, bloating and digestion issues you've probably wondered whether a food allergy or intolerance is to blame. Maybe you've cut one of the usual suspects: gluten, wheat or dairy from your diet.

A growing number of dieticians say the real culprits could be innocent sounding foods like apples, beans, mushrooms and even honey.

Foods that contain sugar molecules with long names, known as "fodmaps" for short.

Ingrid Hipkiss investigates the new food intolerance on the block.
