When Adam Ashley-Cooper walked out for the Wallabies team photo in the number 15 jersey the writing was on the wall for Kurtley Beale.

But while the star fullback wasn't part of the captains run tradition, he did run with the team in the early part of training.

“He did everything he could to get it right, [there] just wasn't enough time I guess,” says captain James Horwill.

Beale hobbled off with the hamstring injury in the Wallabies’ win over the Springboks last weekend.

He's been in doubt all week, which has seen Ashley-Cooper move to fullback and Anthony Faiinga to centre.

“We’ve trained all week without him there, or without the chance of having him there, so fully prepared for the situation for him not to play,” says Horwill.

Beale is one of the Wallabies’ most potent attacking weapons and the team is well aware he'll be a big loss.

“He's someone who can make something from nothing, [whne you] have a player like that in your side [it] just creates opportunities at any time of the game so I think just as a group we'll have to work hard to cover the loss ‘cause he’s such a good player but at the end of the day its 15 blokes not one bloke who wins a game,” says halfback Will Genia.

Despite the setback the Wallabies are relaxed and confident.

“We're looking forward to it, we have every belief that we can go out there and do the job," says Genia.

A job, that if successful, will see the Australians through to their fourth Rugby World Cup final.
