Like many Kiwis, Matthew Coleman's family left New Zealand for a new life in Australia.

When they heard a New Zealand church was opening in Brisbane, they eagerly joined.

As a satellite church, they were required to raise money not only for themselves, but also, to send back to New Zealand.

"Give it heaps," they were told, and they did.

But that church was Destiny Church, and last year, they began to feel New Zealand was asking for too much, and that too much was going to 'Bishop' Brian Tamaki.

Mr Coleman speaks to Campbell Live about the inner workings of the Brisbane church.

Mr Tamaki once again refused our request for an interview.

Does anyone else think it is wrong for our tax money and our government to fund church projects and schools? They give to one church and then the next church wants the same or more money. Why can not our government set up and fund its own programs and take care of all of the people, serve everyone the same. I feel that it is wrong to align churches with our government and it is wrong for our government to fund church projects. We should be a government of and by all of the people. To see those Maori politicians up on that stage being anointed by Tamaki made me sick and I was shocked at the stupidity and arrogance of the whole lot. Separation of church and state is important and should be the rule of the land. Free thinking people and those who want what is best for NZ know that charlatans and power trippers have no right influencing our government and receiving our tax money. Finance your own programs Brian Tamaki and stop using our tax money to finance your needs and agendas that are based in your beliefs. You believe that homosexuals are evil and that is beyond stupid and so very wrong. This self proclaimed bigot needs to be taken down a notch or two.

Brian Tamaki is getting COCKEe,His job is to draw people to God, not to himself. Who ever is last will be first in the kingdom, & whoever is first will be last. Desting chuch is not the ONE & ONLY church in the counrty that WILL enter into OUR HEAVELY FATHERS home. You could always join another chuch where you will also encounter the Father, Son & Holy Spirit.for Gods hand isnt short, nor is he deaf. Wake up people cant you see what everyone else see's. Blessings to that Brisbane Pastor & his Family, at lest he was brave enough to stand up for GODS PEOPLE..
May His peace, love, Spirit b on U.. Jesus live's 4eva

I take my hat off to Pastor Andrew and his family. That must have been a hard decision to make. He is a very good Pastor and has touched the hearts of many. I have been a witness to this. But things happen for a reason and maybe this is a test, maybe God has had enuff as well and has worked within Pastor Andrew and his family as he has plans for his work. We can all judge and have opinions about this situation, but only God will know. Heavenly father i ask you to take care of the Stock family, Tamaki family and those who are in need of your guidance. Bless these people as they are good people. Father i know you are with them as you are always here for me and my family too. Give them the knowledge and patience to get through this. Father we thank you for dieing on the crass for us and for taking away our sins. I love you and cherish the many blessing that you have given me and my family. God bless everyone. Amen

Sounds to me that Brian Tamaki and Joseph Smith the Mormon "Prophet" have a lot in common. If Brian publishes the Book of Tamaki, sends out a few missionaries and dresses in weird Temple Underwear then may be he could really coin it in like the heirarchy of the Mormon Masonic Cult. I guess he would have to skip the polygamy as many wives would dwindle his bank balance.

This is pathetic. As for the supporters of DC, rah rah, whatever you say cannot convince me! It is with plain sense that you all have been conned by a man with an expensive looking black suit! I don't usually trust every word the media says however they've pointed the obvious! Just one look at Tamaki's suit is enough for questions to start rolling.

I just can not comprehend that TV3 is allowing Destiny Church to use its channel to air their own show. I know that money talks and there is the freedom of speech thing but come on TV3 you have to take a moral stance and draw the line somewhere !! A bar manager would reserve the right as to who he would serve, so can you guys at TV3. Putting Brian Tamaki on free to air television is only going to get more people lured into his money sucking church and make honest hard working people, who are already strugglng to make ends meet even more financially crippled.
