The number of beneficiaries increased last month by more than 2,500 people, the Government has revealed.

The increase in overall beneficiaries by 0.8 percent in June now means there are 320,041 people claiming a benefit from the state.

Unemployment beneficiaries increased by 403, meaning there is a total of 49,622.

Social Development Minister Paula Bennett says the figures are in response to winter but show fewer people are claiming the benefit than two years ago.

“In the four months to June, benefit numbers decreased month-on-month, but we’ve seen a slight rise in the latest report which is expected during winter with fewer seasonal jobs,” says Ms Bennett.

“Despite making good progress in getting more people into jobs this year, there’s still more work to do and that is why welfare reform is vital,” she says.

When beneficiaries are put on courses, they are taking off Winz Benefits and at the same time put back on, the same protocol is used when their course ends. Figures we hear from the Government claiming people have found work is not all true as in reality they are only on a course and when it finishes, that will be why Unemployment figures is on the rise. Take the good with the bad National, you skite when you claim Unemployment has dropped, i do not know why though as you know it will be going back up a couple months later when courses end.

and eddie the mining boom is about to as well. CEO of BHP has openly stated the mining boom is over and that they are putting projects off now. stupid labour supporters still do not have the intelligence to understand what a global recession, boarding on depression means for an export country.
