Watch out whalers – Pete Bethune can’t be detained, slain, harpooned, changed, blamed or tamed.
According to YouTube singer Laura Love that is.
Pete Bethune recently escaped jail in Japan for charges related to the boarding of the Shona Maru II – a whaling boat he says intentionally crashed into his boat, the Ady Gil.
On his return to New Zealand, Mr Bethune criticised the New Zealand Government over their handling of the whaling situation – calling them a lapdog of the Japanese Government.
In the video Ms Love parodies the Miley Cyrus song ‘Stay (Can’t Be Tamed)’ – a song with a music video that got talking-heads motormouthing about the appropriateness of Cyrus’s skimpy attire.
Ms Love is more demure than Cyrus but does use a bottle of V energy drink and a Flora margarine tub as props.
The chorus of the song goes:
“He can’t stay detained, he can’t be slain, he can’t be harpooned, he can’t can’t, he’s Pete Bethune, he can’t be changed, he can’t be blamed, he can’t be tamed.”
