It’s the hat that turned heads for all the wrong reasons – and now it’s turning into cold hard cash.

Princess Beatrice has put the fascinating fascinator she wore to the Royal Wedding up for action to support charities Children in Crisis and Unicef.

The price has already hit over $40,000.

Children in Crisis says the idea to auction the hat was a stroke of genius.

The princess says she hopes whoever wins the auction has as much fun with the hat as she has.

The auction closes on Sunday.
