Mastodon – the metal band it's okay for indie kids
to like – are making their Big Day Out debut in 2010.
Not for the faint of heart, or the faint of ears,
the Atlanta-based Mastodon have risen to the top of the metal ranks with a
series of critically-acclaimed albums, each selling more than the last whilst
never selling out.
The group's latest album, Crack The
Skye, is described by the band as an "out-of-body
experience" and made top 10 lists worldwide – even in mainstream magazines
like Time.
They're on the Blue Stage at 1:45pm – a cruelly
early time for a band as powerful as Mastodon. Midnight Youth are going to have
a tough job following them.
