A biker is injured with a suspected broken leg, after leaving the protests in Auckland over increased ACC levies.

The man’s bike hit a car as he negotiated a tight corner straight after the demonstration.

He was leaving Auckland’s domain down a twisting road called “Lover's Lane” after a protest attended by more than 300 riders.

Ambulance crews say the biker had a suspected broken leg.

The Government wants to triple ACC levies for the biggest bikes.

vehicle drivers face the same risk at bikers.
You can easily lose contol of your car around a corner just as a biker can, drive to fast and lose control just as a biker can, hit another car just as a biker can, fall asleep at the wheel just a biker can, drive drunk just as a biker can. Most bikers are probably more catious of these things as they know it's a little more dangerous. YOu think your so safe in a car...then why do more people die from car accidents. I mean just below the article is a link to a article on a CAR acciedent that killed 7.

No matter what you drive be it car, truck, bike or whatever.
You face the same risk as any other driver out there.
Abide by the same laws as any other driver out there.
Need a licence to drive as any other driver out there.

I believe if you stand behind this decision it's for your own selfish reasons. So YOU dont have to pay the extra tax!!

After losing friends to a car accident & knowing many that are not the same after barely surviving. I can't see any sense to this fight.

It's not about what you drive, it's the driver and sometimes it really is an accident.

I watched the Bike riders leave Palmerston North for Wellington a couple of days ago, The first group left in an orderly fashion but many in the second group took off at quite high speed to catch up, They wonder why the fees are going up, Unfortunatly many bikers are there own worst enemy.

As a former rugby play and bike rider, Yes sports players need to pay for their injuries, and I would not let my boys ride road bikes ever!. You make one simple mistake on a motorcycle and its curtains, life is too precious to be a bike rider when cars are so cheap!.

There are two types of riders : those that have had an accident, and those that are due to have an accident. Yes many sayings just like that .hav been used ovr years to ,, excuse the guilty,, and there behavior..Like in the fifties, sixties, seventies,, it was said about wives.. that there were the woman that had been raped and beaten by there drunk husbands and those that were going to be beaten and raped by there drunk husbands. and the police would do nothing. as it was the done thing..it was also held it was the womans fault she didn't get there head out of the way of her husbands fists way. and these woman in the end ,, when they to had had enough had to get up go into the streets and protest ,, call the scum what they were to there faces. they had to call the enablers and collaborators scum, you know the ones that were there supposedly to protect all equally. and the mps .. that did nothing to stop them.. what they were.. scum. and had keep it up.. till the scum no longer had anywhere to hide. and the mps. had to do something about the disgusting violence and there failure to protect the rights of the victims. while they protected and collaborated with the violent scum. and that is what us victims are going to do,, keep protesting till our rights are returned ,, we will protest in there faces in the streets. till they do the right thing..

There are also two similar types of cyclists, horseriders and rugby players. But as far as I am aware they don't YET pay ACC levy for their pastime. At least this unfortunate individual has already paid his share towards his hospital visit.

Yea the only statistics im interested in ,, is the dangerous driver that hit me head on while he was overtaking dangerously at high speed. in his so called safer car. yea right no car is safer to hit me in, more creative bull. he was %100 at fault, yet i got zero.. no compensation no wages, no rehab zero. and the scum driver got covered. fully , for the rest of his life. Oh and his insurance company got covered for life.and with creative accounting these thieving scum want me to pay more rego.. yea right.. either we all pay equally,, and get cover equally.. or the guilty must be held accountable.. fully.

Andrew, according to police reports on motorcycle accidents, the vast majority are the motorcycle at fault.

Whilst motorcycle riders make up a disproportionate number of road injuries, I actually wonder if the fault often lies with the driver of the other vehicle. It's not the riding of the motorcycle that is dangerous, it's the sudden stop! There are two types of riders : those that have had an accident, and those that are due to have an accident.
