At stumps on day four of the first test between New Zealand and Pakistan the Black Caps are on 147 for eight.

Grant Elliott (20) and Iain O'Brien (4) are the not out batsmen.

Earlier in the test...

The Akmal brothers 176 run partnership ensured Pakistan passed the follow on mark with ease

Umar celebrated his debut with a century. He blasted on to 129 before becoming Shane Bonds’ fourth wicket and at stumps on day three Pakistan were 307/ 8.

Today held so much promise for the Black Caps, Bonds remarkable test comeback continued with his fifth wicket for 107.

With Pakistan all out for 332 the Black Caps began the second innings with a 97run lead.

But Muhummed Aamer soon swung things Pakistan's way - removing Martin Guptill.

Then Daniel Flynn without a run on the board departed.

Ross Taylor started the scorecard ticking over.

Taylor and Tim McIntosh continued a steady recovery to 68 / 2 at lunch before running themselves into trouble.

Taylor walked for 59 but that dismissal wasn't nearly as humiliating as Peter Fultons’.  His decision not to challenge clearly a huge mistake.

Pakistan on the other hand used the challenge to their advantage, removing McIntosh after more than three hours - but just 31 runs

Their next challenge to remove Grant Elliot was quashed by a dubious no ball.

The collapse continued as Brendon McCullum became the Black Cap's fourth duck.

Only one thing is much worse than the Black Caps meagre effort today. The radio commentary is absolutely shocking. Too many 'know alls' babbling all day long. More like a verbal ego scramble - and they're being paid to make fools of themselves.
