Clarissa Eshuis's late strike from a penalty corner has given the Black Sticks women a 3-2 win over the United States to keep their Olympic hockey medal hopes alive.

Eshuis scored with just over six minutes left to keep the Black Sticks top of Group B heading into their final match against Germany.

Captain Kayla Sharland scored inside the first two minutes from a penalty corner before Kathleen O'Donnell levelled scores from open play.

Another penalty corner strike, this time from Gemma Flynn, restore the Black Sticks' advantage before Claire Laubach had the US back on even terms just before halftime.

Eshuis's goal means the Kiwis now have nine points from four games and if they beat Germany on Monday they will reach the semi-finals.
