The 10th annual New Zealand Fashion Week kicked off in its brand new venue in Auckland tonight.

It's the event that brings out the most fashionable our country has to offer, but it's those flying in from overseas who will best promote our wares to the world.

“I think it's important to discover new talent and to inspire people because if you stick to Paris, London, New York and Milan, people are bored, so it's exciting to see what's happening here,” says blogger Yvan Rodic.

Rodic has flown in from London to cover New Zealand Fashion Week. His blogs get 1.3 million hits a month.

Australian Ingrid Kesa is the comedian of the blogging bunch, covering the event for her blog ‘Laters Haters’.

“I want my audience to be anyone. I want a 20-year-old heterosexual guy to be interested in fashion through my writing. That's what I hope for,” she says.

They say they're looking forward to discovering new designers, but they already know which shows they can't miss.

“There's some that I'm really looking forward to. Stolen Girlfriend's Club is probably my most anticipated show and Zambesi,” says Kesa.

Zambesi founder Neville Findlay says bloggers play an important role.

“We consider that bloggers and the media are very, very important,

“It's important for us to get our message out, especially in the northern hemisphere. That's where we're aiming for,” he says.

There will be 12 international media delegates, including bloggers, attending this year. They'll be covering some 38 shows, writing for blogs and magazines with millions of readers.
