Blur rocker Dave Rowntree's political career has been dealt a heavy blow - the drummer failed to win a seat in the UK Parliament at Thursday's general election.
The musician has been taking time out from his music career to fight for the Cities of London and Westminster constituency as the Labour Party's official candidate.
Rowntree previously admitted he didn't hold out much hope for winning the seat, which was handed to Labour's rivals, the Conservative Party, following the ballot on Thursday.
The rocker came second after losing out by 11,076 votes to Conservative candidate Mark Field.
In a post on his Twitter.com page, Rowntree writes, "I came second, vote held up well."
The Conservative Party won the lion's share of the votes, but is unlikely to achieve the majority needed to win - leaving the country facing the prospect of a hung parliament with a coalition government.
