A body discovered in Lyttelton Harbour at the weekend has been identified by Christchurch police today.

The man’s next of kin had not yet been notified, and Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Tarawhiti of Sydenham police said details may not be released for a few days.

A security guard found the body around 5.20am on Saturday, in a harbour spillway.

On January 30, the man’s car had been seen at a ramp by the spill way.

The death has been referred to the coroner, and is not believed to be suspicious.
