Police searching for a 22-year-old woman who went missing on Saturday have
discovered a body in the Ruahine Ranges.
Search and rescue personnel had been searching an area in the bush near
Woodville, trying to find a woman whose car was discovered nearby.
Inspector David White says a body was found about 6pm on Monday near the
Wharite Peak communication tower. He could not confirm whether the body was that
of the missing woman.
Police remained at the scene overnight and would undertake a scene
examination on Tuesday.
The matter has been referred to the coroner.
