A body of a male has been recovered near the Colonial Knob walking track in Porirua this morning.
Detective Sergeant Steve Dunn says police are yet to formally identify the body but they believe it is that of Porirua man 26-year-old William Campbell.
Mr Campbell has been missing since Wednesday morning this week. He was last seen at Kenepuru Hospital.
His family said he required daily medication and it is believed he did not have any with him when he went missing.
William’s family found the body around 9.30am this morning after putting together a search party consisting of friends and family.
Detective Sergeant Dunn says this death is not believed to be suspicious. A post-mortem examination is yet to be carried out.
