Body found on Hawke's Bay beach

3News NZ

Hawke's Bay police are trying to find out how a woman whose body was found on a Napier beach died.

The woman, described as middle aged, was found at the eastern end of Westshore Beach about 9:30am.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dave de Lange says it appears she wasn't in the water long before her death.

He says police are seeking more information about her movements in the last few days, and are keen to know how long a small mobile home found in a car park at the beach adjacent to James St had been there.

Her body has been sent to Wellington for a post-mortem examination and it could be several days before the cause of death is established.
