The body of missing 70-year-old Trevor Hawke has been recovered from Lake Wanaka, 10 days after he fell overboard while sailing with a friend.
A remote operated vehicle and police dive team recovered the body from the lake on Sunday after sonar detected it less than 1km south of Eely Point at a depth of 47 metres, said police search and rescue coordinator Senior Constable Emma Fleming.
"This has been a tragic loss for the Hawke family and it is a relief to be able to return Trevor to his family and friends."
She thanked them for their support and patience.
Mr Hawke was a founding and life member of the Wanaka Yacht Club. His death has been referred to the coroner.
