Party leaders were invited to talk to business leaders this morning - and the hot topic was Labour's plan to raise the retirement age.

ACT party leader Don Brash is under pressure – with the party only reaching 1.5 percent in last night’s poll, he is on the edge of political retirement not long after his comeback.

Dr Brash refused to speak to 3 News about the retirement age describing our reporter Patrick Gower as a "deceitful bastard" after being questioned.

John Key says the retirement age can stay at 65, seemingly forever, but Labour leader Phil Goff thinks otherwise.

However, Mr Key has found an unlikely ally – New Zealand First leader Winston Peters, although he does say the Prime Minister’s making it up as he goes along.

We shouldn't left too many oldies in the service as we need to train the younger generations the future generation skills..

Time we had journalists like this bloke cleared out of the system. TV And the media should not tolerate people like this who attempt to bully their subjects into statements to serve the story the journo is trying to create! Unprofessional. Good on Dr Brash for speaking his mind!!

This kind of sensationalised, one-sided and biased reporting is why I will be taking any and all politically related material by 3 news with a grain of salt. We want the truth, not your opinions, or your Michael Moore style editing.

A reporter is supposed to REPORT the news, not try to MAKE the news like Patrick Gower does with his slanted views on most matters. Is he perhaps the "stand up comic" for 3news ?

Time someone stood up to twisting reporters.

Boo hoo Patrick, maybe it would help if you were not such a useless gormless knob!!

Not Bill Clinton

As Bill Clinton once said "a politician complaining about the media is like a sailor complaining about the sea". Dr Brash as asked a polite question about a policy issue he is passionate about - increasing the retirement age.
Swearing at a journalist in these circumstances is completely unacceptable.

I'd be keen to know how Patrick is being held accountable for the fact that he's managed to completely destroy his working relationship with a party leader in the middle of an election.

I wouldn't have put it quite like Brash did, but I've lost a lot of respect for Patrick. There's nothing clever about acting like a dick Patrick.

The inept, intellectually bereft Patrick Gower copped exactly what he had coming to him. As Bruce says, post the full video instead of clipping it to suit yourself.
