The Breakers are preparing for their first game of 2012, taking on the Tigers in Melbourne on Sunday.
They will be looking for some better form after ending 2011 with two away losses.
Breakers coach Andrej Lemanis says while the team did not play well in Cairns they have moved on and made some adjustments.
The game was not all bad though, after several weeks out with a knee injury CJ Bruton had his first game back.
“I feel better, it’s not 100 percent and obviously over time it will get better, but its definitely good to be out their with the boys and be able to compete,” he says.
Injuries seem to be popping up frequently in the middle of the regular season with Gary Wilkinson hurting his back and Tom Abercrombie sustaining a shoulder strain. Both sat out of some training this week but have been declared fit to play on Sunday.
“We've had two days off over Christmas, so that’s pretty good for us,” says Abercrombie. “We were all happy with that but it is the nature of our season. We run all through summer time and all through the holidays.”
With any team there are highs and lows and the experienced senior players know they can help play a part.
Gary Wilkinson says it all about motivating one another.
“Bring them up and help them stay confident and positive because you’re going through those hills and valleys as the season does.”
Once Sunday is over, the team can look forward to their next four games at home.
