Breakthrough discovery could save NZ honeybees

Ground breaking discoveries by American researchers may help protect New Zealand honeybees from the deadly varroa mite, which is becoming resistant to insecticide.

The mite-fighting breakthrough using sodium ions has been made by Michigan State University researchers.

It could lead to the development of a specific varroa control which would not affect bees.
