Britain is battling its way through freezing temperatures, with widespread disruption to transport caused by a blanket of snow across much of the country.

Heathrow airport has been the worst hit, with half of all flights cancelled.

Air New Zealand says its flights in and out of Heathrow are now back on schedule, after the snow caused two flights to be delayed in Hong Kong for 24 hours yesterday.

The snow has stopped but a freezing fog is predicted to move into the city, prompting council workers to place grit on the roads to counteract black ice.
