Britain's health minister has been angrily heckled as he entered a meeting on the government's divisive health care reforms.

Protesters jostled Health Secretary Andrew Lansley as he arrived for the 10 Downing Street meeting Monday (local time). Protester June Hautot, 75, accused Lansley of trying to privatize the state-funded National Health Service.

Britain's Conservative-led government is planning a major overhaul of the NHS, which provides free treatment to all Britons.

The government says the reforms will remove bureaucracy and give doctors more control.

Opponents say it will give private companies a bigger share of heath care and undermine the system's universality.

The proposed law is meeting stiff opposition in Parliament.

Britain is seeking to trim spending by £80 billion by 2015.
