Jaquie Brown is doing pretty badly.
Qantas award-winning comedy The Jaquie Brown Diaries returns to TV3 this week, and its lead, Jaquie Brown (the character), is struggling to keep it together.
"In this series I'm out in the celebrity wilderness, doing product endorsements, going on lame reality shows, all the degrading things I'll probably end up doing when the series is over," Brown says.
“She’s struggling with [nemesis] Surita Singh’s rising popularity. It causes a lot of internal turmoil. She’s basically just trying to get back into the media spotlight.”
Jaquie Brown (the woman) is doing much better, thank you very much. The second series of her show is about to premiere, and the happy newlywed has a book out on Friday – Jaquie Brown’s Guide to Everything and Recipes and Quizzes.
Brown says she feels a lot of pressure to push herself – especially while filming the popular comedy series.
“You’re so exhausted but you just want to do the best you can” she explains. “It is the difficult second series. We just hope that people like it as much as the first, and that we’re still funny… and my double chin isn't as prominent.”
The quirky style icon is frank and self-deprecating. “I’ve got a funny looking face. It’s alright though. I’m at peace with my weird little face.”
