Little businesses here in New Zealand have learned that despite being comparatively miniscule and a world away from the big international corporations, those massive companies will use their might if their name is used.

It's happened here with the likes of Hilton, Harrods, Disney and the Oscars, and now Burger King is in a right royal tizz over its signature burger, the Whopper.

A wee takeaway joint in Nelson has been making their own Whopper for 12 years.

It's gone unchallenged, until this week. Now Burger King is threatening legal action if the Nelson takeaway doesn't rename its burger.

Burger King need to take lessons on a proper whopper burger should look like as there one sure looks puny.
Perhaps time to exercise our protests with our purse strings when these big guys pick on the hard working folk like Jack & Melva who make an honest whopper burger.

This is a joke ... You can not copy right a word. burger king has no stand at all. If they where using there Trademark then sure they can take legal action. But all they are doing is calling there hamburger a whopper witch does not infringe on BK's Trademark. I say keep calling it a whopper and forget BK! and get a layer that understands copyright and Trade mark laws

Why don't you call it the "Proper Whopper"! as at least yours resembles a decent burger! Shame on you burger king for trying to squash the little guy... does this mean you'll also be having a crack at anyone using "burger" in their product names... and have you asked the Crown if you can use the term "king" in your latest advertising campaign!
