Before I say a word, worry not.

It would be a cursed reviewer cruel enough to give away the ending here - I certainly wont be even hinting at it!

There's been a tonne of talk about this movie and for good reason. Many a filmmaker has shied away from this crazy premise.

Be prepared for the fact you will spend this entire film in a small coffin with Ryan Reynolds. He's a truck driver in Iraq, he's been kidnapped, he's gotta find his way out or he will die. Its that simple.

Buried is a brilliantly simple cinematic gimmick and a feat of filmmaking. Reynolds holds it together while losing the plot, and the claustrophobic context is very compelling.

Disappointingly, I was left with the overriding feeling I had just been played and the film was more an exercise in audience manipulation than authentic storytelling. It does manipulate you very well though.

Three and a half stars.
