Cher and Christina Aguilera in Burlesque

Cher and Christina Aguilera in Burlesque

Reviewed by Kate Rodger

Let me say from the outset, there is no question that both Cher and Christina Aguilera can sing, really really sing.

That doesn’t mean a movie showcasing their obvious talents is going to be good, and it’s not.

Burlesque is the tried and true formula of small-town girl heads to the bright lights of LA to make it in showbiz.

In this case, its burlesque, and Christina’s Alice wants to sing and dance so bad it hurts.

You know the rest, you’ve seen it all before, and I’m sorry to say you’ve seen it done better.

Two Stars.
