Can we please get the misconception that the drivers are on strike out of the way. The drivers turned up to work today, however they were locked out by the company therefor no services could be run. Thanks
Dear Mr. Mike Lee,the company should be doing more than just having to pay back. They are in breach of contract with the City of Auckland and their Customers. NZ Bus agreed to provide public transport, the City of Auckland funds this transport with $150.00 a day in subsidies, and Customers pay for the service by buying monthly, weekly tickets and with single ride tickets.NZ Bus has broken the agreement and obviously is not yet ready to go back and resume business. As a result the City of Auckland should not only stop paying any monies to the company, the ACC should demand reimboursmant for every day without service. The City should than look into other transport companies to see if they can find a new provider of the desperatly needed service called puplic transport, and release NZ Bus of all duties and obligations. They, NZ Bus, are clearly not interested. With best regardsSabine F.Royal Oakcurrently sleeping at a Friends place so i can walk to work. Because there is no Bus where i live, until further notice.
Typical of managements to avoid paying a decent wage to their workers. I do not understand the reasoning behind such low wages being paid in this country? We are supposed to be a very profitable and highly taxed country, then why must only the managements enjoy the benefits of everyone's hardwork??!!! We the workers are always being taken for granted. I think it is high time we got some Labour Laws in force which protect our rights or we will continue to get trampled on. What is a measly $1.80 increase over 3 years compared to realistic increase in cost of living. E.g Fuel 91 unleaded was about a dollar in 2004, which is now about 55% higher within 5 years. Average increase of 11% p.a. compared to a measly 2-3% increments p.a. handed out by companies to their staff. How can people with such meagre incomes make up for the gap in earnings versus cost of living of nearly 8% year on year. All I can say in conclusion is that managements are not humane.
