A bus has become stuck on a hilly Wellington street, completely blocking the road.

The mishap on Devon Street in Aro Valley happened after the vehicle's wheels lost traction.  No passengers were aboard the bus at the time.

A crane is now required to move the bus, and the road will be closed for at least the next few hours.  At this stage authorities plan to free it by dragging it backwards up Devon Street.

During that time, traffic will not be able to enter Devon Street from Fairlie Terrace or Aro Street.

Locals say heavy vehicles have become stuck on the corner several times a year, with the last case being a truck which jammed in October.

now thats a f**k up. But I do know Tranzit is a big bus company, between 450 and 500 buses. I got to give it to the driver he must not have been from Wellington. Maps be handy I have seen worse.

Haha this incident reminds me of an occasion years ago during the early 1970s when i was driving a 40 seater coach for the Maori Battalion vets and their wives on a sightseeing trip around Wellington. We were onroute to Mount Victoria to the lookout and unfortunately i took the wrong road and we found ourselves stuck on a sharp right angle bend with the tailend of the coach stuck into the bitumen unable to go forward or backwards. All my passengers willingly alighted from the coach allowing me to continue forward onto a straight stretch where they all got back on in a very jovial mood and we proceeded up to the lookout. I'm happy to say, one never repeats a mistake like that. Godbless NewZealand.

Idiot. You'd think drivers would get the message by now. Good for a laugh every time though.
