While the Big Day Out drew a mammoth crowd at Mt Smart Stadium on Friday, the internet provided the next best thing for revellers who missed out.
C4’s exclusive online coverage of the Big Day Out attracted more than 9000 browsers on Friday – an 8 percent increase on the 2009 coverage.
C4 streamed live from the even from 11am right through to 7pm and, along with the music, managed to interview some of the big names throughout the day – including Midnight Youth, Powderfinger and The Temper Trap.
Online streaming isn’t new to C4; the channel recently put on New Zealand’s first online-only event – The Non-Stop Gig – in which Telecom and C4 provided 12 hours of continuous live music.
Associate Director of Marketing for Mediaworks TV Amanda Wilson says the increase of visitors to the site suggests viewers are becoming more open to online coverage.
