CCTV images have been released showing two men in connection with an aggravated robbery at a liquor store in Upper Hutt last Tuesday.

The two men – one armed with a knife – entered the Thirsty Liquor store on Fergusson Drive just before 5:45pm.

They took bottles of alcohol off the shelves and demanded money from a staff member before he chased them out of the shop with a hockey stick.

Police say the offenders ran across the railway track to a vehicle waiting in a nearby car park, opposite Silverstream Primary School.

The vehicle, which was seen driving north along Gard St, was a maroon-coloured four door Nissan hatch or similar, with a number plate starting with the letter 'T'.

Detective Sergeant Chris Gooch says police are hoping someone can come forward to identify the offenders after seeing the CCTV images.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Thirsty Liquor at the time of the aggravated robbery last Tuesday night,” says Mr Gooch.

Police advise that anyone with any information should contact Hutt Valley Police on (04) 560 2600 or phone the anonymous tip-off service Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
