I watched the video with great interest.
My daughter and I (We're from the UK)holidayed in NZ last year and saw the devastation first-hand.
You're Vision for the future is inspiring and we hope it will be all that you wait and hope for.
The video ends by suggesting that what you will end up with will be a city that will inspire the world.
Buildings seldom inspire the world. What HAS and WILL CONTINUE to inspire the world is the courage and determination of the people of Christchurch in the face of almost overwhelming grief. We wish you all an exciting and happy future in your new and beautiful city.

I'm the optimist, the stadium, convention center and park area are all good ideas. But where is the badly needed transport system? The tram is an embarrassing, dangerous, noisy, out of place and redundant toy, it should have been replaced with a proper, long term and much needed LRT. Wider CHCH is not small and traffic, asphalt roads are a nightmare here, not to mention stagnant satellite shopping centers *cough* new brighton *cough*, which could have been saved with an LRT. Inspire the world? What world, Dunedin world? Amazing construction is happening in unlikely places around the planet, and we had a golden opportunity like no other to do it right, but all I saw in this plan were lego buildings; I saw no attempt at a city of the future except for the stadium, which was hinted in the video as an unconfirmed design idea. Who wants to bet it will end up much like the stadium designs of the 70's again. Scratch this plan, do another one, this time, squares and unoriginal-ity is not allowed.

The video fly through skips past the site of the old cathedral, suggesting there might be a spire of some sort but not necessarily a cathedral. Overall it looks good though I expect it will take decades to come to fruition. It won't be like Germany or Britain rebuilding after WW2 though. Every building will be vastly more expensive to resist future earthquakes.
