A powerful three-strong cabal of National's most senior female ministers will spend the next three years seated side-by-side at the Government’s Cabinet meetings.
Prime Minister John Key's seating plan has Judith Collins, Paula Bennett and Hekia Parata seated together around the Cabinet table.
They told reporters half-jokingly today that their stronghold was "the real power" in Cabinet.
Cabinet ranking promotions for Bennett and Parata mean all three sit on National's ‘front bench’ in Parliament.
The female trio sit on Key's left hand side, with Gerry Brownlee and the Cabinet secretary Rebecca Kitteridge.
Finance Minister Bill English and "Minister for Everything" Steven Joyce are Key's right-hand men.
Media were allowed in for a brief photo session at today's first Cabinet - held around a table on the tenth floor of Parliament, above the Prime Minister's ninth floor office.
