The franchise gives you the advantage of buying into an established success story

When it comes to buying a franchise there are many documented do's and don'ts.

The franchise gives you the advantage of buying into an established success story, as opposed to starting from scratch.

But they are not risk free, as two women discovered when they put their life savings into appearance medicine clinics.

The Caci Medi-spa clinics are a chain of clinics across the country, specialising in things like botox, laser and facial treatments.

Having dealt with several franchisees within the caci group I would like to point out that it is the management of the franchisor business that should be investigated for unfair treatment of franchisees, for continually showing disrespect and disloyal behavior towards their franchisees. All is not well within this group and the owners of the business need to front up and acknowledge the dysfunctional operation in their charge. The general public should not punish the individual franchisees by not using their services, it is really these people's professionalism and desire to look after the needs of the clients that is keeping this group going, despite the best efforts of the franchisor to continually self sabotage what could be an extremely successful global franchise.

Thanks for your feedback. While we empathise with our former franchisees who appeared on Campbell Live and whose businesses have failed, we strongly dispute their claims that they were treated unfairly. Our business model is about happy successful franchisees, our success is dependent on theirs. We have provided considerable support to these businesses beyond what has been required.

We have, and always will, operate within the bounds of our agreements with franchisees and in the best interests of the Caci brand to ensure it is protected for all of our franchisees and our valued clients.

If you have any concerns please direct email us direct and we will come back to you.

Former CACI Owner wrote:

As a former CACI owner I would like to point out that out 3 have been taken over by Micromode in poor circumstances, 2 have sold in last 6 months and I believe 4 are currently on the market, leaving 3 who have either purchased within the last year or aren’t in a position to sell currently and that’s just in Auckland!!! I think the numbers speak for themselves and deserve further investigation from the media. What Micromode do maybe within the law but morally and ethically their behaviour is unacceptable. All CACI’s are individually owned and every owner gives 110% to ensure the customers are look after and happy they do this to grow their business but knowing that Micromode can come in and bully you out at any time is unacceptable. They know that as small business owners you don’t have the cash to take them to court even though you would win in the end but would be financially out of pocket.

No entity is immune from disagreements or people feeling wronged and the wise learn that there are always two sides to every story, but probably elements of truth in both!!

So 20% of the clinics spoke in favour of micromode, one would question if those clinics were all the micromode owned clinics and in actual fact if there are any happy franchisees? After being ordered not to speak to the media and knowing the fear of what would happen if you did I dont think the extent of the bullying tactics have fully been uncovered!

I've always had great experiences at Caci, the staff are lovely, very professional and I chat to the owner at every visit. I had no idea they were treated so badly. Sounds like this Micromode crowd have some explaining to do!

Having dealt with this company first hand I have seen exactly the way in which they treat their own staff as well as the disgusting way in which they treat their franchisees. One can only hope that this is taken as a real wake up call and that it does not result in their unsuspecting staff and CACI owners loosing more than just support. Bullying is not acceptable!

What a shame they put a gag order on the clinic owners and staff I'm sure there are a number of them that would really like to tell the media of the bullying culture within the CACI group, maybe the media should look at how the senior management bully everyone else to get what they want.

So... After telling the reporter it's OK to speak to the other franchisees, after an hour the clinic operators are told NOT to talk to the press. Of the 10 reached, 20% spoke in favour, but 40% were very negative. All in all, not exactly a ringing endorsement for the company. Probably best to do business elsewhere.
