An expert in disaster management is calling for a boycott on cruise ships following the Costa Concordia tragedy.

The Costa Concordia, which ran aground off the coast of Italy at the weekend, is now threatening to leak 2300 tonnes of fuel into the surrounding nature reserve.

Its owners are blaming the captain for veering towards the shore to "salute" residents on land.

The CEO of Kenyon International Emergency, Robert Jensen, says a clear message needs to be sent to the cruise ship industry.

"Until passengers make decisions with their pocketbooks and decide not to take cruises, or Governments say we have do the cruise industry what was done to the airline industry, there won't be any change," he says.

Authorities have also raised their estimate of the number missing to 29 people, while six bodies have been retrieved.
