After much speculation, Activision have today confirmed Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be released later this year.
Following the early Call of Duty games that were set in World War II and Black Ops which was based in the Cold War and Vietnam, developer Treyarch is now taking the franchise into the future.
The reveal trailer for Black Ops 2 shows Sgt Frank Woods, alive and well after the events of Black Ops, in his old age in the year 2025.
"Aside from the fact that I'm still alive, none of this surprises me," he says in the video.
The Modern Warfare titles were developed by Infinity Ward, although last year’s Modern Warfare 3 was co-developed by Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software.
The past three Call of Duty games have each become the biggest launches in entertainment history.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is scheduled for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on November 13, 2012.
