Interesting to see the dog racing industry have not made any attempts to buy a GAP safe house, undertake an enquiry of any sort, and instead have become even more dishonest about the harm they cause to these beautiful animals. Now they don't even declare the deaths and extent of injuries. They have changed their habits to cover the issues up even more. That shows how firm they believe what they are doing is ethical and sound. Why hide the truth? I look forward to a long awareness campaign, exposing this industry, until its inevitable collapse. Dog racing, due to its harm factor, is inhumane. Its a basic issue, its out of step with our values as a society, and a very very very small majority gain from it, while many thousands of greyhounds suffer, just so gamblers can be entertained. Enough is enough, the end, has begun. I know for sure that I have the patience to see this through, because its the right thing to do, and once the racing industry is forced to stop lying and covering up the systemic abuse in this industry, most New Zealanders will agree too. Use this information to plan ahead, not many doomed industries have that luxury.

The anti greyhound people trying to fight again. To DANIEL LANG, if greyhound owners didnt make money would you be against it? just for your info, most of the greyhounds are looked after really well. It seams you anti racing people just sit behind your computers making comments and patting each other on the back. You all talk of 24,000 dogs that go missing each year, BUT if dog racing finish's tomorrow, will YOU have the capability to find homes for all the current racing dogs? DAVE ROBBIE, trying to fight with AARON is a waste of time. He knows when he is beat, so will stop posting comments or if its on his facebook page, he will delete you , because "he knows all". To anti Greyhound people of New Zealand. Greyhound racing will NEVER die....so get a better hobby, or come down to the races and see how amazing these dogs are.

Aaron, when can we follow you with the cruelty of dog fighting in NZ, especially in Auckland were Vets are even involved and it can cost you between $1k to $3k for a ticket, seems to me no matter what the animal rights can do, it all ends up with the Vet been the money maker, think about it.

Killing healthy greyhounds for the benefit of the gambling industry is totally unacceptable Milly, shame on you for endorsing it.

I am sick and tired of greyhound owners making an absolute fortune out of their racing dogs and not looking after them properly. An investigation needs to be held.

Actually most of the racing dogs I know are looked after a lot better than many children in New Zealand - what really should be our priority??

Vested interest much Dave Robbie? So since you are an authority on such matters, exactly how many greyhounds were euthanased at the race track last year? How many were culled for being too slow or disinterested? Who has the biggest mass graves - after all, these dogs have to end up somewhere, right?
