Epsom battle looks interesting, eh? I think the voters of Epsom have every right to feel insulted that they are being 'told' to elect John Banks. Remember that Don and John B rolled Rodney Hyde humiliatingly only months ago, and that despite not always agreeing with his political philosophy, people of Epsom felt he was a very good local constituent MP for them, and was popular. Of course, National didn't field a candidate previously, again denying people of Epsom a true positive vote. I think National have forgotten that people still do vote for people on their own strengths/merits, and not always for a party clone. John Banks has too much potical baggage, and Mr Goldsmith looks like a better fit for the people of Epsom - keen to earn his vote and represent his constituents with less cynicism. Lets hope democracy wins, eh?
Act leader John Banks has admitted he failed to make a proper declaration of a gift from Kim Dotcom.
Parliament has been in recess but it has not stopped the politics.
Conservative party leader Colin Craig says if John Banks resigns from Parliament he would be very keen to run in Epsom.
Labour leader David Shearer says ACT’s John Banks may have broken well-established cabinet manual rules for not declaring a $1000 gift basket from internet tycoon Kim Dotcom.
Will there be a by-election in Epsom or won’t there?
