Although Mrs Cranston took the deposits, she has never owned the house

Craig Mudgway and Anita Cranston have taken tens of thousands of dollars in deposits from Kiwi holidaymakers for a luxury villa in Fiji, but the holidays don't happen.

Campbell Live exposed this last week, and has spoken to people who've paid thousands of dollars in deposits, not had their holidays, then not got their deposits back.

Although Mrs Cranston took the deposits, she has never owned the house.

Mr Mudgway bought it, but failed to make mortgage payments and the house was seized by the Fijian High Court in May.

The home's bookings weren't just from New Zealanders. They came from overseas as well, and Mrs Cranston has taken bookings and deposits for the next two years.

@JW...well i think that tourism also supports a lot of families in Fiji .... i think if you dig deep enough every country has a regime of some sorts that is not palatable to everyone...NZ could be deemed as oppressive to certain groups also...i doubt banning all tourism to Fiji is going to benefit everyone in Fiji? The house may be a villa on the canal...but it was the stepping stone for many families to the holiday of thier dreams...don't trash peoples dreams or choices for a decent holiday

Thanks Maggie. No surprises about CM not paying child support, many fathers manage to get away with that. Just wandered where the money came from if CM is trying to get it. Still if police are involved now they will do a paper trail even if it is in a trust. Then his wife & kids can go forward with a clean conscience.
