Canadian backpacker missing

3News NZ

Police are appealing for any sightings of a Canadian backpacker who hasn't been heard from in more than two weeks.

Pearce Martin, 20, has been backpacking around New Zealand, camping and staying in hostels.

He was in Waitangi between February 3 and 8, and until that time, he had been in regular contact with friends and family through Facebook and emails, police say.

However, Mr Martin has not made contact since February 8.

Missing persons unit manager Senior Sergeant Linda Simpson says there is no clue as to where Mr Martin travelled to after Waitangi, and his lack of contact with family is of concern.

Anyone who may have seen Mr Martin, or knows of his whereabouts, is urged to contact police.
