Cantabrians are starting to celebrate again with more than a 100,000 people visiting the 149th annual A & P Show in the province's cup and show week - something organisers say is a vital step in the city’s road to recovery after the earthquakes.
Included in the show were three high class jewellery businesses, based in central Christchurch until the devastating earthquake, who joined forces to set up shop at the A & P Show.
There were around 600 stalls trading at the show, and ten times as many livestock on display..
About 100,000 people come to the A & P Show every year, bringing more than $16 million into Canterbury.
This year also had a surprise in store with a wedding being held on the villlage green in front of hundreds of strangers.
“You can’t get much luckier than that on the 11
th of the 11th, so it’s a special day and we are super excited," says groom Adam Chambers.
It was a special day shared by thousands of Cantabrians as they celebrated the city's slow return to normality.
