A Canterbury couple have made good on their promise to get married in the barest of essentials, as part of a promotion by the radio station, The Edge.
It was not a wedding for the faint hearted, the judgemental, or anyone who thinks getting married without clothes on is a little strange.
Shane Carson and Cherie Taylor certainly did not, although their nudity did seem to unnerve the marriage celebrant. He forgot who he was marrying and got the groom’s name wrong.
The nude factor continued to set the mood. It even crept in to the vows.
“I promise to sooth your mind and body,” said Carson.
Aside from the obvious nudity and a guest dressed as a giant sperm, there were some traditional elements to the event, like the exchanging of rings, the big kiss, the signing of the register, and of course the cutting of the cake.
One might ask though, what will they tell the kids in ten years time?
“It was a spontaneous thing to be honest. It was just a matter of ‘hey this is crazy let’s do it. We're going to get married, why not do it in good style?’” said Taylor.
And while it's certainly not everyone's idea of 'good style' the groom certainly wasn't complaining.
“It’s just everything you could want and more, and just doing it, something a little bit different,” said Carson.
One has to wonder though what could possibly be left in store for the wedding night.
