A Canterbury couple have made good on their promise to get married in the barest of essentials, as part of a promotion by the radio station, The Edge.

It was not a wedding for the faint hearted, the judgemental, or anyone who thinks getting married without clothes on is a little strange.

Shane Carson and Cherie Taylor certainly did not, although their nudity did seem to unnerve the marriage celebrant. He forgot who he was marrying and got the groom’s name wrong.

The nude factor continued to set the mood. It even crept in to the vows.

“I promise to sooth your mind and body,” said Carson.

Aside from the obvious nudity and a guest dressed as a giant sperm, there were some traditional elements to the event, like the exchanging of rings, the big kiss, the signing of the register, and of course the cutting of the cake.

One might ask though, what will they tell the kids in ten years time?

“It was a spontaneous thing to be honest. It was just a matter of ‘hey this is crazy let’s do it. We're going to get married, why not do it in good style?’” said Taylor.

And while it's certainly not everyone's idea of 'good style' the groom certainly wasn't complaining.

“It’s just everything you could want and more, and just doing it, something a little bit different,” said Carson.

One has to wonder though what could possibly be left in store for the wedding night.

Looks like a fun happy time and the couple look very happy and well matched, and will cope well with a liberal tolerant attitude. Not sure my isle would benefit from nude weding tourism though and I am not that well groomed! I could imagine a nude bride though!
Gromit 2. I will suggest Tourism take up the challenge one day!

I was brought up in the island and you know how cultures and traditions are very important to us,but when I read this I actually smile and said,COOL whats wrong about it, but I wouldn't recommend it to my kids, but as one comment that it might not be our decision on how our kids wed, if it comes down to it I will not attend it,but will give them my blessing, so i just want to congratulate the couple and wish you a long lasting and fruitful relationship with strong bond of LOVE!!!

Hello Kathrine,
Wow, you opened up something………
We always make the best decision for our children and they have lots of respect for us when comes to making decision in life, as we live by our goals and dreams. May be you brought up in a different environment. It’s ok we can understand that.
I wouldn’t stop my children getting nude wedding, But trust me they make smart decision. Hahahah.

Because of we born naked, doesn’t mean that we live naked. Hope Katrina wear some clothes in day to day life.
This is disgrace for people to go around and show your private part in the national TV just to get some attention.
This is the lazy way for a quick Media and the Public attention.

I can't believe some of these comments, who are they hurting by getting married in the nude, big deal. I wouldn't do it myself but I have no problem with anyone that is prepared to and I think their children and grandchildren will think they were pretty cool once upon a time. And for Jamie, who will not "allow" her/his children to do such a thing...what makes you think you will have any say in how your children marry, its not your decision.
