Deane: That letter is from you. Not us. Please do not include me by your use of the word we. I certainly do not agree with whaling, but the Sea Shepherd group are possibly doing more harm than good. Both parties should accept some blame. Wouldn't that be the mature thing to do?

I sent the Japanese government this letter. I have yet to receive a reply."As you see I am writing to you with regards to a recent incident where a Japanese Vessel Shonan Maru rammed a New Zealand Vessel Earthrace during a protest in the Antarctic Ocean. We feel that this act is similar to the Rainbow Warrior back in 1986 which was treated as an act of terror by the French authorities against New Zealand. This is a very sad day for the relationship between New Zealand and Japan as the ramming of Earthrace was an act of violence towards a New Zealand owned vessel with New Zealand citizens on board. It’s sad to think that in this error of terrorism from extremist Islamic groups, the only terror New Zealand has experience is by its so called Allies....Indeed to act violently against a protest vessel much smaller and frail then the Shonan Maru is shameful.Questions I would like to ask the Japanese Government are:What protocol did the caption of the Shonan Maru use before the incident happened?Does international maritime law allow ramming of protest vessels by commercial vessels? We feel that the act of violence towards Earthrace fringes on the breach of Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution which reads:ARTICLE 9. Aspiring sincerely to an international peace based on justice and order, the Japanese people forever renounce war as a sovereign right of the nation and the threat or use of force as means of settling international disputes. (2) To accomplish the aim of the preceding paragraph, land, sea, and air forces, as well as other war potential, will never be maintained. The right of belligerency of the state will not be recognizedAlthough The Shonan Maru is not a military vessel, it is a Japanese Vessel owned, used and maintained by a Japanese company and this vessel used force as a means of setting a international dispute being protestors right to protest"

What are you smoking Bandai? Have you watched the collision videos? It clearly shows the Japanese ship going to go past the Ady Gil but at the last moments it turns into it.
