Emergency services have freed a woman trapped inside her car after it collided with a train.
The accident occurred shortly after 2pm near Dunsandel, south of Christchurch, this afternoon.
It is unknown whether there were any other occupants in the vehicle.
A rescue helicopter is flying the woman, who has minor to moderate injuries, to Christchurch Hospital.
The train is believed to be a freight train, as passenger trains do not use that section of railway, a police spokeperson said.
It the second such incident in as many days, after a train and car collided near Amberley, north of Christchurch, yesterday.
