The occupants of a car seen travelling through Paeroa a few hours before a popular pizzeria owner's body was found may have information important to the case, police say.
The body of 55-year-old Jordan Voudouris was found in an alley leading to his Mykonos Pizza and Pasta business on June 18.
No arrests have been made in connection with the death that police say was violent.
Inquiry head Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Whitehead says a vehicle of interest has been identified in the investigation.
"Reviewing CCTV footage and other information we are seeking to identify a small white four-door car that had a distinctive black front passenger door," he said.
The car was seen travelling through Paeroa towards Waihi about 2am on June 18.
"We believe the occupants of this car may be able to assist us in building up a picture of what was happening in the town overnight and during the early hours of the morning," Det Sen Sgt Whitehead said.
