If you've got it flaunt it. That's what France's First Lady, ex-model and pop singer Carla Bruni-Sarkozy decided to do, showing off her baby bump for the first time to lunch guests on the sidelines of the G8 summit.

The First Lady opened her jacket and slid her hands over her belly, showing off the long-rumoured pregnancy.

Her guests, the spouses of world leaders from G8 countries, smiled and congratulated her. Press monitoring the proceedings on a video screen in the thousand-seat press centre nearby gasped and hooted.

The French First Couple, who married in 2008, have not officially announced the pregnancy, but after weeks of speculation the president's father, Pal Sarkozy, confirmed it last week to a German newspaper.

President Nicolas Sarkozy has three sons from his first two marriages, and Bruni-Sarkozy has a 9-year-old son from a previous relationship.
