Carly Rae Jepsen: Fame is surreal

Carly Rae Jepsen says that she’s glad she didn’t get famous at a young age.
The 26-year-old pop star is now a music phenomenon after being a finalist on Canadian Idol.
She told People magazine that she is grateful she paid her dues before hitting it big.
“I don’t know how I would have handled this if I were any younger,” she told the publication.
“I was happy to organise my own merch table and run offstage afterward and be the salesperson and hope that no one took the shirts while I was performing. This is surreal.”
She also shared a good way to break the ice with a boy, which worked for her when she was a teen.
“In high school I met this loner type who was really into chess which I thought was strange and intelligent,” she shared.
“My stepfather taught me, and I offered this guy a game. He kicked my a*s, but we ended up dating.”
Carly also revealed who her favourite fan is.
“John Mayer sent a note in a little wooden box that said, ‘Embrace and enjoy your first hit. There’s more to come.’ ” she recalled. “[Opening it] I was acting like a 12-year-old. He’s a great songwriter – and not bad to look at.”
